Selecting the Right Boardroom Table & Chairs to Create the Heart of Your Office

  • The size of the table – As a guide, there should be a minimum 1070mm space between the edge of the conference table and the walls of the room. This gives everybody sufficient space to push back their chairs without bumping into the wall and also makes it easy for anyone to walk around when others are seated. If space permits, you could consider including a space for a lectern. Generally chair and seating space/width of 800mm for individuals is comfortable
  • The shape of your table -  Bow or oval shaped tables are popular as these provide unobstructed view of all attendees without the need to lean forward or backward to see speakers
  • The frame/base of your table - is a key factor in determining how many can be comfortably seated at the table. You need to ensure that there is plenty of leg space for everyone under the table away from the frame
  • Power and data – If your meetings require the use of audio visual equipment, tele-conferencing, PCs or Screens you will also need to consider a power and data dock (normally inserted into a cut-out in the centre of the table)
  • The flexibility of your table –You may have envisioned a single large table,  but it may be more practical to consider smaller adjoining tables (or Flip tables) that can be used independently from the boardroom - or for break-out groups in the boardroom.
  • Seating style and size - boardroom chair options are endless and 'todays' chairs generally include height and back adjustability, lumbar support, mid or high back, castors or non-castors and the option of arms. Genuine leather, PU leather and mesh back are all popular and affordable options - and are easy to clean. If you require arms for the chairs beware of arms that are fixed and too high to fit under the table. These arms will bump into the edge of the table and cause damage to the table - or the chair
  • Is customisation required - a customised boardroom table is often the best way to optimise your space, while also meeting your business and design requirements
  • Price - value for money should be the critical consideration
